The Importance of Seeding

Seeding is basically a way that you can share your video with others while you download. Whenever you download anything from this site, the download is only possible because other people halfway across the world are seeding.
That's why we need you to seed as you download. If you don't seed, the next person after you will find it a little bit harder to download their video, and for each person that does not seed, it gets that much harder to download a video.
The more people seed, the easier downloading will be for everyone, and therefore everyone = happier.
How to Seed - Downloading and Uploading
Seeding is easy. You don't have to do anything except not delete your download after it is done. Once it reaches 100%, the status box will automatically change from "Downloading" to "Seeding". The longer you keep it seeding, the easier it will be for others to download.
Keep in mind, though, that seeding is most productive as you download, because it is then easiest to pass on data. This is where download and upload speeds come in.
Downloading represents what you are taking for yourself to your own computer.
Uploading represents what you are passing on to others.
It is a good idea to have your video upload to others as it downloads at the same time. Note here how the video for Bible Black is downloading and uploading at the same time.

You'll want to make sure that your upload speed is turned all the way up and not limited. To do this,
1. Minimize uTorrent so it is in the right toolbar.
2. Right click on it and hover over Upload Limit
3. Click on unlimited.
Like so:
[attachment=1155:upload2.jpg]
You can also use this to change the download limit to whatever suits you. Some people find their browser becomes erratic if the limits are set over 50kb/s, so if this is a problem you should limit it when you're using the Internet. When you're not using Internet, unlimit them, which is fastest.
Download/Upload ratios
Almost there, you should be downloading in no time. One last thing.
The easiest way to tell how much you're downloading vs. how much you're uploading/seeding, is by download/upload ratios, as shown:
[attachment=1156:uTorrent3.jpg]
If it is less than 1: you've downloaded more than you've uploaded
If it is more than 1: you've uploaded more.
The goal would be to upload as much as you download, so if you get this ratio to 1 once you've finished downloading, you're all clear, and you can remove it. Some people like to make their ratios 2:1 or 3:1, but the minimum amount you should have is 1:1.
And that's about it. All you have to do is seed for other people as you download what other people seed for you. It's not too hard at all. It's a good system, everything we get here is for free. We take from each other and then we give to someone else new, it's just that more people have to get that mindset of giving and taking, instead of just taking. The more people who give, the better and easier it's going to be for everyone to download.
In the end, not just you but everyone is going to profit from it.
Note: These pictures are from uTorrent, which is what you should be using.

I do seed as much as possible before taking it down, but I'd like to seed some of the older files that I've already removed, since I've got a ton just sitting on my computer and would like to help out.

if you deleted a torrent you have to get it back again and save it in the same directory you have the game ( the compressed release version ) and it will automatically do a hash check and start seeding again

im not sure i understand. you first say that you dont know how to seed but then you say you seed as much as possible?

I seed as much as possible after getting the torrent completed, but after I remove the torrent, I didn't know how to get it back up again. Now, I do, thanks. =]
Should be no problem for me to get the torrent again, and I'm assuming it won't matter if I have already unpacked some files or have set up some folders in the same directory, as it should only be looking for the same files to seed, correct?

-PandaLabs replied it is not a virus or malware.
I use ABC torrent, and seed at 1:3 or 300%.

How do I start a new torrent from a ripped rar/par/iso/mds/cue I created?
-Found a good explanation at <a href="http://www.hongfire.com/forum/faq.php" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.hongfire.com/forum/faq.php" target="_blank">http://www.hongfire.com/forum/faq.php</a></a>

I use BitComet for my torrent program. However, a lot of times for UL's or DL's, it will be connecting sometimes for hours. I do have a Norton Firewall running (it's free for me legally). Is there anything that I can possibly due to have it so that it is connected while still allowing my machine to be somewhat protected? This is mostly an issue after I have DL'd a game/vid, and I am currently attempting to seed. Main reason I have noticed it is because of someone whom was kind enough to seed so I could get the .1% of a rar, but I have noticed BitComet has been attempting to connect most of the time after it finished the DL (which has been well over an hour).
Thanks.

But then my computer connects to more than 1000 peers, and my school thinks I'm sending viruses to them, so I get me ISP shut down, and it takes a week, severe formatting, and more than 48 hours of software reinstalls for them to finally accept that my comp is clean.

I think i remember going through something like that I think what I did was I right click the file and choose manual connect. Hope this helps.

And since I didn't know where else to put it, I do have a suggestion for DM. Maybe have a section where we can list what games/vids we can reseed? That way, someone requesting a reseed could send a message to those that have the game, rather than put it in the reseed area (which I do admit, I know exists...but don't necessarily pay that close attention too). And may help a bit on finding those that have the game, that no one else may still have.
The reason I mention it, I download a lot, and I don't delete (though I may back-up) what I download from here. May help a bit.

With the upgrades we will be getting at least 625KB up speeds and at least 2.75MB for download for only $10 more per month than what we pay now.
Needless to say I can't wait.
PS nice to see you again Twi (and thanks for the compliment on the changes)

I wish I had a better bandwith lol... I Up at 45 kb MAX.... lol.... and my HSHARE torrents used to have Ratio below 10, before I had to format my HD. x( ...
But the Internet Providers are shitty. My parents pay around R$41 ( that would be something around U$22 )... >;( ...
If I could upload at a, at least, 100kb Rate I'd be totally Happy.... I could have already finished uploading Hokuto no Ken ( damn 33 GBs torrent... Episode 1 to 151. )

Yeah... I don't see that happening. Thanks for the offer to help, if you are serious about helping I suggest taking a look at the reseeding section once and a while.
Thanks for the info.Never knew that seeding was so important. I've let the latest hentai move which was milky way and Viper GTS to seed to help others.
Also have a question. Is it possible to seed a torrent without downloading them so that other members can download easier???
also i'm kinda new to torrents in general and if there's any way that I can help in any way please tell me.

In case you already have the exact same files the torrent contains then yes, it's possible. You just have to open the torrent browse to the folder containing the files and your torrent client will start seeding after checking the files. Also have a question. Is it possible to seed a torrent without downloading them so that other members can download easier???
