Vague Game Description by white_masq:
Wow, the translation is pretty tough to return writing for:
The hero in this sequel goes by the unfortunate name of 10555, also known as “The Fifth”, and if neither of those go for you, then it’s “Koraru” (or “Coral” >_>;; ). He is now called a “God of Death”. With this many unfortunate namesakes, it appears that his occupation is either transmigrating into people who’ve died a mysterious death, or finding those who’ve died mysteriously and using their spirits for power. In any case, these individuals are called “Sickles” and their abilities are to be collected to improve one’s combat skills. It would appear that his double life of living as a youth named Kurota is beginning to realize the pleasures of life. These pleasures are found in six girls at the school hour hero attends. It might not be happy times for long, for other men (who appear to be Gods of Death themselves) with retarded numbered names are planning their attack. And soon the girls at school prove to me more than he previously assumed.
…Okay, I have little clue to what’s going on, but it isn’t going to stop you from playing it (if you haven’t already that is).

Sorry for the wait but I finally finished this. In case you haven't played this or Artificial Girl 3 I recommend downloading and playing this one first. Why? That'll have to wait for another review. -_- But if you trust my opinion so far let's just say AG3 does not live up to the hype and for the first time I've felt a teatime game surpassed an Illusion offering. If you have a good PC this game is a lot better as well.

Review:

The sequel to Realtime Lovers is finally out and offers a decent game despite its shortcomings. When I heard about the sequel to the fantastically bad RL I wondered if Teatime would deliver. Despite their affiliation with Illusion their games were not of the same caliber. Though it had some excellent presentation with good music and graphics the first RL suffered from some horrible content and some slipshod design to go along with a bad camera. RL 2 improves enough over the prequel to be far more enjoyable but suffers some design issues that hold it back.

Story

Without a translation patch (which I highly doubt) you won’t know anything more then the scant plot details from the game description. What you do know is that the plot is convoluted and revolves around a god of death living as a boy named Kurota. Kurota is enjoying life as he assembles quite the harem at the school he attends but fooling around with the skirts proves troublesome as other supernatural beings start showing up and his girlfriends start sprouting wings and such. Battles and emotional conflict ensue and you have the basic magical boy/girl storyline.

I’m sure the story for RL2 isn’t as bad as the woeful attempts of schoolmate but it actually made me a bit curious to figure out what those scrolling characters mean, partly because the game squeezes out every scene to the last possible drop. It bogs down the game for English speakers because it gets boring quickly and the skip keys become a necessity. But be warned, skipping can speed up things but you could miss the decision questions that branch out the plot so if you are shooting for certain endings be mindful of that.

There is not much else to the story to add. It can get stereotypical of so many hentai titles before it but for the most part the game lets you break some story sequences for interaction and does contain several movie sequences for both ending sequences and sex scenes. The ones I viewed were a bit long so you can watch Teatime’s choreography if that’s your thing.

As I noted before the text is ridiculously long and it can get tiresome listening to the squeaky voice of the certain loli characters and they gyrate around so much it pisses me off. Almost as though they have to convince you how cute/moe they are every damn second while they skip about. It’s not enough to be a flaw and you can take out the frustration with your pimp hand or some whips and other S&M fare followed with some rough sex. So it’s bearable.

Design

The character design is top notch in RL2. Most every female character ranges from cute to sexy. Especially the well endowed Koto and Minamo. There are bit too many loli characters for my liking but whoever did the art/character design for this game deserves some high praise. The clothing is detailed and the girls supernatural alter egos are very stylish and well done. The game provides a fair amount of eye candy especially once you see the alternate costumes or start stripping them down in H scenes as you can decide what parts to leave on while you have your fun. The anime look is done very well and the girls look great naked. Uncensor the game and you get to see some pretty pink.

Voice acting varies from girl to girl but the high energy ones get on your nerves quickly but for the most part scenes are well voiced and some good music helps.

There was some great debate on the environments on the boards here but in my opinion I love free roaming games like this one and Artificial Girl 2 and 3. Though they can look poorly done and crude at times it is very enjoyable to decide where and when to bang your favorite gals. The game has several environments like the school, house, café, gym etc.

I felt the camera was vastly improved from the prequel and hot keys and the like are all familiar and accessible once you memorize the functions so nothing major there. The H system is a bit odd but more on that later.

To flesh out design features you get memory sequences/movie gallery section. The downside is the uncensor patch doesn’t work in them but it’s there if you want to watch your hard earned ending sequences again.

The bad news for RL2 is it can cause a lot of aggravation. I’ve heard the game has been criticized for bad programming and design in some aspects. I’m not good enough in those areas to offer anything critical of the game but RL2 gets buggy as hell sometimes. The game takes a huge 10GB to install and demands a high performance rig to run it how its meant to be played. If your stuck on the low end in terms of computing power be prepared for a sloooooow FPS rate and graphical shortcomings. The main menu allows you to tweak the game into running at lower capacities but the trade off is you lose touching modes and some nice graphical features.

H-Content

Time for the meat of the game. Here’s a short rundown of the gameplay:

You’ll either be in story sequence mode for conversation mode (look for the black letterbox movie format or the traditional textbox and you’ll know which one.) The story advances at your pace since each scene has a narrator indicated by an icon at the top.

The box at the top right indicates what mode you are in. Conversation mode, Monster in the pants mode, and items can be used by setting them there. You can break conversation at any time and enter touching mode by hitting a heart icon at the bottom left. Fondling and stripping the girls down is achieved in this way.

Arousal in RL2 is indicated by an Eros meter that goes to 100. Your partner should be high up around 75 before she’ll accept sexual advances.

Fondling and kissing takes place much like a lot of other illusion games with the floating hand icon. Use a meter on the bottom to switch from rubbing, poking, and pinching. Stimulate the erogenous areas on the girl to turn her on and keep going until she climaxes or start stripping her down piece by piece. Fondling mode didn’t do much for me and I found the quickest method and the most useful just to get her aroused enough (poking). Some nimble mouse work from one sensitive spot to the other before she pushes your hand away and you have her arousal going up fast. Three orgasms and they’ll collapse and let you bang away.

Something of note: initiating sex with the little monster icon can also be done with violence. Using the hit tool (the slap icon) you can beat all the girls into submission and have your way with them. Be warned that doing so constitutes a rape to you. That affects the ending and the state of your girls. Little icons much like the SIMS games show you how they are doing. Sexual abuse icons let you know when you are being rough and attitudes change accordingly. Several items that aid in the misogynistic side of the game are available like whips, syringes, baseball bats and other things. Love potions and energy boosting drinks and gifts are available to keep the girls in top performance if you’d rather keep them happy and on good terms.

There are a variety of positions in RL2 depending on where you do it and if it’s from the front or back. Special positions are unlocked when you have sex on desks and chairs or against the wall. You can get a blow job or do it cowgirl style with your partner. The animations are all very good and this is definitely a strong point of the game. The mouse interface is cumbersome as you click on the main characters hip to penetrate and his head to bring up icons that change positions. Clicking on the girls head will initiate “kissing” mode and you’ll lock lips affectionately with your partner and thrust in unison. Leave the mouse still and the girl will take the lead if she’s aroused enough and work you very hard.. Buttons along the top of the screen set the mode to either coming inside or outside and z and x control is shooting it out. Shoot outside and you are treated to some horrific spider demon seed that wraps a web of cum on the girl. This stuff sticks everywhere and even sticks to the walls and floor after the encounter. Press the delete key to remove it unless you want to fuck a cacoon.

After sex the girls get tired and need rest. Use an item to revive them and be mindful of their health bar. It can be replenished but once it hits zero you kill them. So if you have a favorite bring plenty of items to keep her in good shape for your excursions around town. There is a freeplay mode available that skips the story and starts you off in the nurse’s office if you’d like to just play the H stuff.

Bottom Line:
--
Getting RL2 set up can be troublesome if you have an older PC and some design issues take some of the impact away especially if you are forced to run it a a low FPS. The story drags a bit and ending paths are unclear without a guide. Cumbersome controls can sap the fun and some dialog sequences are boring as hell.

+
Great character design / art direction and overall quality with free roam environments. A fairly deep h-mode along with some items and multiple positions are pluses.

I liked this game more so then the first one and even though I wanted to give it a 3.5 but after some replays there is enough here for a higher score. RL2 is a good eroge title and the franchise looks to be Teatime’s best flagship series. I'm looking forward to the sequel

4.0/5
